Tracy Chapman

Born 30 March 1964, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. During Nelson Mandela's satellite-linked 70th birthday concert at Wembley Stadium, London in 1988, this guitar-playing singer-songwriter got her big break when, owing to headliner Stevie Wonder's enforced walk out, her spot was extended.
Tracy Chapman cares about the state of this world, and the developments in our society, and this is shown in her songs. She uses songwriting as a mouthpiece in which to put across her point of view. This can be heard by the meaningful lyrics in her songs. She is a great songwriter, and also a fantastic person, and the songs she writes have excellent harmonies and melodies. Perhaps most of all, her songs make for easy listening - something which I am a great fan of!

COLDPLAY

Early Days the four future members of Coldplay met as college students in London and became almost instant friends. The band grew out of their friendship. An early EP of only 500 copies got them a performance slot in the Manchester In the City music festival in 1998.
One Of the World's Top Bands:
Following the Manchester performance, connections with one talent scout led to another and ultimately a recording contract with Parlophone Records. Based on a limited edition titled The Blue Room, released in 1999, Coldplay received very positive coverage from the music media. Two more EPs Shiver and Yellow followed in early 2000. The single "Yellow" soon became a worldwide smash hit single.
Coldplay's first full-length album Parachutes was released in the U.S. in November of 2000. The single "Yellow" received a tremendous boost by its inclusion in ABC television promo spots. "Yellow" was a massive U.S. hit single by the spring of 2001 and Parachutes won a Grammy Award in early 2002 for Best Alternative Music album.
Rumors of a breakup followed the band in 2001 but by the fall they were back in the studio. The second album A Rush Of Blood To the Head appeared in August 2002. Signature songs such as Clocks and The Scientist were soon heard frequently around the world. The album debuted at #5 on the U.S. album charts and garnered 2 Grammy Awards for the band including a second Best Alternative Music award.
Rumors of breakups again appeared following the success of A Rush Of Blood To the Head and vocalist Chris Martin received intense media focus, particularly after his marriage to actress Gwyneth Paltrow in December 2003. The pair gave birth to a daughter named Apple in April 2004. Despite rumors to the contrary, the group stayed together and were back in the studio by the summer of 2004. A third album X&Y was released worldwide in June 2005.

I’ve tried to go on like I never knew you. I’m a wake but my world is half asleep. I pray for this heart to be unbroken. But with out you all I’m going to be is incomplete. Voices tell me I should carry on. But I am swimming in an ocean all alone . Baby, my baby. It’s written on your face. You still wonder if we made a big mistake. I’ve tried to go on like I never knew you. I’m awake but my world is half asleep. I pray for this heartto be unbroken. But with out you all I’m going to be is incomplete. I don’t mean to drag it on, but I can’t seem to let you go. I don’t wanna make you face this world alone. I wanna let you go(alone). I’ve tried to go on like I never knew you. I’m awake but my world is half asleep. I pray for this heart to be unbroken. But with out you all I’m going to be is incomplete. Incomplete. I’ve tried to go on like I never knew you. Speed Of Sound

How long before I get in---Before it starts before I begin---How long before you decide or---Before I know what it feels like---Where to, where do i go?---If you never try then you'll never know---How long do i have to climb---Up on the side of this mountain of mine---Look up, I look up at night---Planets are moving at the speed of light---Climb up, up in the trees---Every chance that you get is a chance you seize---How long am I gonna stand---With my head stuck under the sandI'll start before I can stop or---Before I see things the right way up---All that noise and all that sound---All those spaces I got found---And birds go flying at the speed of sound---To show you how it all began---Birds come flying from the underground---If you could see it then you'd understand---Ideas that you'll never find---All the inventors could never design---The buildings that you put up---Japan and China all lit up---A sign that I couldn't reador a light, that I couldn't see---Some things you have to believe---When others are puzzles, puzzling me---All that noise and all that sound---All those spaces I got found---And birds go flying at the speed of sound---To show you how it all began---Birds came flying from the undergroundIf you could see it then you'd understand---Oh, when you see it then you'll understand---All those signs I knew what they meant---Somethings you can't invent---Some get made, and some get sent---And birds gone flying at the speed of sound---To show you how it all began---Birds came flying from the underground---If you could see it then you'd understand---Oh, when you see it then you'll understand .

kEANE

Tom Chaplin (vocals), Richard Hughes (drums), and Tim Rice-Oxley (piano) are childhood friends from Battle, East Sussex, England who make up the merry pop sounds of Keane. Formed in 1997 while each were attending college, Keane initially started out as a cover band. They played Oasis, U2 and Beatles songs in and around Sussex with guitarist Dominic Scott. The schtick would only last so long, for Keane got tired of playing everyone else's songs and yearned to do things on their own. When Chaplin left his Art History studies at Edinburgh University behind in 1999 and moved to London to join the rest of his mates, Keane had a chance to really do it. They began writing and recording almost immediately. Call Me What You Like marked their self-released debut single in early 2000 and Wolf At The Door followed a year later, however things were slow to develop. Scott left the band in July 2001 and labels weren't really biting at Keane's rich, piano-driven kind of rock & roll because Coldplay was supposedly doing it. In December 2002, Keane got the break that they'd be waiting for. Fierce Panda's Simon Williams was summoned by a friend to attend a Keane gig in London. He was so impressed by the band's performance, Williams offered to issue the band's next single, Everything's Changing, on the spot. The limited-edition release was such a success on radio, several labels soon swarmed around the indie rock trio, eager to offer them a recording contract. Keane signed to Island UK in fall 2003 and released their fourth single, This Is The Last Time. The band's full-length debut, Hopes and Fears, appeared the following spring.

SIMPLE PLAN

The punk pop craze continued to sweep across US shopping malls and MTV during the early twenty-first century, owing to the emergence of acts such as Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based Simple Plan. Following in the footsteps of fellow Canadians Sum 41, Simple Plan's roots lay in an earlier group, Reset, which included vocalist Pierre Bouvier and drummer Chuck Comeau, back in the mid-90s, when both were only 13 years old. Despite touring with MxPx, Ten Foot Pole, and Face To Face, as well as issuing a 1997 debut, No Worries, both Bouvier and Comeau left the band so they could finish their education. It was not long before their desire to play music returned, resulting in the formation of Simple Plan soon afterwards. Rounding out the line-up were guitarists Jeff Stinco and Sebastien Lefebvre, as well as former Reset bass player, David Desrosiers. After building a following by playing alongside headline acts on the 2001 edition of the Vans Warped Tour, the quintet signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records. In 2002 their debut, No Helmets, No Pads " Just Balls, was released, which featured guest appearances by Blink-182"s Mark Hoppus and Good Charlotte's Joel Madden.

HOWIE DAY

Howie Day may only be 22-years old, but he has an old soul. On his debut, “Australia,” Day’s bittersweet songs evoke the spirit of a lifetime’s worth of lovesick nights spent dwelling on regret and drinking alone. “My songwriting is somewhat moody,” agrees the singer-songwriter from Bangor, Maine. “It’s not intentional, I just write what I feel.” Inspired by the emotionally raw songs of Richard Ashcroft, U2, and Jeff Buckley, Day proudly wears his broken heart on his sleeve. “Sorry So Sorry,” “She Says” and “Disco” help set the album’s dark tone. But it’s the first single, “Ghost,” that captures the album’s spirit with hushed guitar and brooding vocals.
LYRIC :
The dawn is breaking ---A light shining through ---You're barely waking ---And I'm tangled up---in you ---Yeah---I'm open, you're closed---Where I follow, you'll go---I worry I won't see your face---Light up again---Even the best fall down sometimes---Even the wrong words seem to rhyme---Out of the doubt that fills my mind---I somehow find---You and I collide---I'm quiet you know---You make a frist impression---I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind---Even the best fall down sometimes---Even the stars refuse to shine---Out of the back you fall in time---I somehow find---You and I collide---Even the best fall down sometimes---Even the wrong words seem to ryhme---Out of the doubt that fills your mind---You finally find---You and I collide---You finally find---You and I collideYou finally find---You and I collide.

U2

"A band before we could play" conceded Bono in early interviews. Through a combination of zealous righteousness and post-punk experimentalism, U2 became one of the most popular rock & roll bands of the '80s. Equally known for their sweeping sound as for their grandiose statements about politics and religion, U2 were rock & roll crusaders during an era of synthesized pop and heavy metal. The edge provided the group with a signature sound by creating sweeping sonic landscapes with his heavily processed, echoed guitars.
One Tree Hill
We turn away to face the cold, enduring chill---As the day begs the night for mercy love---The sun so bright it leaves no shadows--- Only scars carved into stone ---On the face of earth---The moon is up and over--- One Tree Hill---We see the sun go down in your eyes---You run like river, on like a sea---You run like a river runs to the sea---And in the world a heart of darkness---A fire zoneWhere poets speak their heart---Then bleed for itJara sang, his song a weaponIn the hands of love---You know his blood still cries--- From the ground---It runs like a river runs to the sea---It runs like a river to the sea---I don't believe in painted roses ---Or bleeding hearts---While bullets rape the night of the merciful---I'll see you again ---When the stars fall from the sky---And the moon has turned red---Over One Tree Hill---We run like a river ---Run to the sea---We run like a river to the sea---And when it's raining---Raining hard---That's when the rain will---Break my heart---Raining...raining in the heart---Raining in your heart---Raining...raining to your heart---Raining, raining...raining---Raining to your heart---Raining...raining in your heart---Raining in your heart..---To the sea---Oh great ocean---Oh great sea---Run to the ocean---Run to the sea

Birth: Eminem was born October 17, 1972 in Kansas City, MO to Marshall Mathers Jr. and Deborah Mathers-Briggs.
Eminem was married to Kimberly Scott. The rocky marriage resulted in a split in August of 2000 followed by a reconciliation in December of 2000 before they ultimately divorced in March of 2001.
