Depeche mode - Dream On




The new album, Playing the Angel, may be their best since Violator. Definitely better than Exciter or Ultra, not sure yet about Songs of Faith and Devotion. It'll probably be on my Best of 05 list, but "Dream On", is my favorite clip.
Originally a product of Britain's new romantic movement, Depeche Mode went on to become the quintessential electro-pop band of the 1980s; one of the first acts to establish a musical identity based completely around the use of synthesizers, the group began their existence as a bouncy dance-pop outfit but gradually developed a darker, more dramatic sound which ultimately positioned them as one of the most successful alternative bands of their era.

Santana - Smooth



Comment: Great album i enjoy the duets with all the different singers it gives an appreciation for all genres of music and introduces me to singers i don't usually listen to.

Comment: Yes, Carlos used the talents of Rob Thomas (of Matchbox 20), who not only sang the song "Smooth" but wrote it as well! Unfortunately, it was written in tribute to Thomas's Hispanic wife. He probably agrees with Santana's sentiments, being an open traitor.

Comment: It's always such a pleasure to be entertained by this level of versatility and talent. A wonderful production, very smooth - each instrument showing a great deal of independence, yet as a whole creating an amazing tight and solid composition.

Nelly Furtado - Try


"Try" is the first ballad of the album. Nelly sings of people and their great expectations of her. One of the things that is to be respected by someone like Nelly Furtado is that she doesn’t try to who-re her Portuguese roots but to salute them, Nelly Furtado grew up in Victoria, Canada and is of Portuguese descent. Nelly Furtado got her first tape recorder when she was eight and used it to record herself singing. When she was 14 Nelly Furtado became interested in music produced with drum machines and samplers - an interest that can be heard in Nelly Furtado's first album.

To argue which one is better is to engage in an utter futility; there is very little talent there to argue about. They work hard. I'll give them that.
